Marc
Miller, President and CEO of Capital Title of Texas, a subsidiary
of Plains Capital Corporation, was recently named President of
the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center Board of Directors. Mr.
Miller will serve a 12-month term as President of the Board and
follows Doris Sparks.
Mr. Miller has given over six years of service to the Collin County Children’s
Advocacy Center. His leadership there has had a direct impact
starting with the formation of a partnership with CPS in the formation
of the Rainbow Room, an emergency supply room for caseworkers when they
have needs for children that are temporarily removed from homes. Miller
also served as President for this non-profit organization for children. It
was at this time that he realized his search for a community project
had become a passion for fighting child abuse in Collin County.
“I am genuinely concerned and saddened by the needs of these children”,
states Miller, “my desire for the Advocacy Center is to continue to develop
strategic relationships with the community while educating them on detection
and prevention of child abuse.” Miller has stated that there is a shortage
of foster care in Collin County and is currently working on a “faith based” initiative
to help educate the community on foster care and the requirements on becoming
a foster parent.
“There is a hidden need in housing in Collin County that involves
the most delicate of God’s creatures – foster children”, says
Miller. “In Collin County, we have a very real need for families
to become aware of the opportunity to open their hearts and their homes to kids
who really need a loving family. We believe that through the church we
can reach the needed families and resources to meet this growing need so that
children will not have to be placed outside of Collin County and thus away from
their families and schools”.
“As Collin County continues to grow so will the need for more child services. Our
center currently serves over 3000 kids a year. There is so much that we
need and so much we can do. I started as a volunteer and so can you.”
Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center is not just another social
services facility, it is a state of the art facility that is the only
one of its kind in the United States. The work of the Center is
nationally recognized in the fight against child abuse. At the
same time it is one of the most child-friendly environments you could
hope to find.
